3 Oaks Gaming adds Hold and Win twist to Sun of Egypt 5
3 Oaks Gaming has released Sun of Egypt 5: Hold and Win, the newest addition to its long-running slot franchise, introducing a Power Symbol mechanic alongside expanding reels and jackpot features.
3 Oaks Gaming, an iGaming content distributor, has launched Sun of Egypt 5: Hold and Win, extending its established Sun of Egypt series with new gameplay features aimed at operators and players.
The title builds on the previous instalment, Sun of Egypt 4: Hold and Win, retaining the franchise’s core Hold & Win format while introducing additional mechanics intended to keep the series competitive in operator lobbies.
New mechanics
A central addition is the Power Symbol, which can trigger one of three enhancements during the Hold & Win Bonus round. It is able to affect up to three symbols on the grid at once, increasing their value, applying multipliers of as much as 10x, or attaching mini, minor, maxi or major jackpot prizes.
The Hold & Win Bonus itself is activated when six Bonus or Power Symbols, depicted as suns, land on the reels. As more symbols are collected, the grid can expand by up to three extra rows, increasing the number of potential winning positions. A completely filled expanded grid triggers the game’s top prize, a royal jackpot worth 5,000x the stake.
Separately, Free Spins are activated by landing three Scatter Symbols. During this feature only higher-value symbols appear, and Bonus or Power Symbols land more frequently. The game also includes a Sun Meter, which can activate the Bonus Game with at least one guaranteed Power Symbol present.
Franchise positioning
The game retains the Ancient Egyptian theme associated with the series and includes a set of fixed jackpots. According to 3 Oaks Gaming, the release is designed to give operators a further evolution of an established brand rather than a departure from it.
Yurii Muratov, Chief Commercial Officer at 3 Oaks Gaming, said the Sun of Egypt franchise has become one of the company’s flagship series through continued updates to its Hold & Win format. He said the addition of the Power Symbol, expanded reels and revised bonus rounds was intended to maintain player engagement while giving operators a title with a track record across international markets.
