BOYLE Sports renews Spotlight Sports Group tie-up after Smart View racecard success

BOYLE Sports has agreed a long-term extension of its partnership with Spotlight Sports Group (SSG), building on the results of a newly redesigned racecard product described as the first of its kind for a UK sportsbook.

The agreement follows the rollout of SSG’s enhanced Smart View technology, which BOYLE Sports says has driven an 8% rise in total betting sessions that resulted in a wager being placed. The Smart tab within the tool has produced the highest conversion rate of any element within the product.

Three tiers of racecard

The racecard system offers customers three viewing options: Quick, Smart and Pro. The Quick view retains the traditional format showing runners and odds at a glance. The Smart view adds ratings covering a horse’s suitability for the course, distance and going, together with an overall score. The Pro view provides a more detailed breakdown of form data.

According to BOYLE Sports, the tiered approach is designed to give customers greater choice and insight when making selections, tying into the operator’s ‘Back Yourself’ brand positioning.

Comments from both parties

Daniel Smith, Head of Global B2B Sales at Spotlight Sports Group, said the uplift in betting sessions showed that customers respond well to intuitive, personalised tools, and that SSG was keen to keep developing racing products with BOYLE Sports.

Adam Matues, Head of Sportsbook at BOYLE Sports, said the Smart View tool reflected the operator’s aim of helping bettors make confident decisions, adding that the three-tab structure was intended to serve different types of racing customer by combining speed, clarity and depth.

Spotlight Sports Group’s B2B division supplies racing and sports betting operators with content and data products, with the Racing Post serving as its flagship brand. BOYLE Sports, founded by John Boyle in 1982, operates more than 390 betting shops across Ireland and the UK and employs over 2,700 staff across Ireland, the UK and Gibraltar.
