Firesand launches account fraud protection tool for iGaming operators
Security specialist Firesand has released Firesand Shield, a new solution aimed at helping iGaming operators and platform providers combat rising credential-based account fraud.
Firesand, a provider of iGaming security services and software, announced on 16th June 2025 the launch of Firesand Shield, an anti-account fraud product designed to protect operators and platform providers from increasingly sophisticated credential-based attacks.
The tool targets common fraud techniques such as credential stuffing, dictionary attacks and password exploitation, issues the company says have led to business losses, reputational damage and regulatory fines across the industry in recent times.
Detection without disruption
Firesand Shield is built to detect and prevent account compromise attempts without relying on CAPTCHAs or blanket blocking measures that can disrupt genuine users. Drawing on Firesand’s background in penetration testing, the system analyses attack patterns regardless of whether they originate from human users, bots or hybrid sources, differentiating it from tools that focus solely on bot detection.
The product also provides detailed attack analysis and reporting, giving operators clearer visibility into the source of security vulnerabilities affecting their platforms.
Firesand said further upgrades are planned, including geolocation anomaly detection, VPN usage analysis and AI-driven behavioural profiling, intended to help operators keep pace with evolving threats.
Company comment
Chris Blake, Director at Firesand, said account fraud has become a growing problem for the global iGaming sector, citing multiple recent cases of user data breaches that have harmed affected businesses. He said Firesand Shield was developed to help operators and platform providers of all sizes strengthen their defences as such attacks grow more frequent and complex.
Firesand specialises in security software and services for the iGaming sector, including penetration testing, vulnerability scanning and auditing, and also serves clients in the finance and government sectors. The company holds licences and certifications across 14 US markets, as well as in Ontario, Curaçao, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man, Malta, Italy and the UK.
