Regency Casino Thessaloniki Opens Open-Air 'Piazza' Gaming Complex

Regency Casino Thessaloniki unveiled The Piazza Project on 24 September 2025, a new gaming and leisure complex combining equipment from three major slot manufacturers, Aristocrat Gaming, IGT and Light & Wonder, within a single open-air setting.

The venue comprises four gaming halls alongside dining and live entertainment facilities. According to the operator, it is the first European destination to house offerings from all three manufacturers in one location.

Launch weekend

The three-day opening event drew more than 12,000 visitors, who took in performances, dining experiences, cultural displays and VIP hospitality.

Regency Entertainment said the format combines gaming technology with cultural programming and an outdoor lifestyle concept, positioning it as a potential template for land-based casino development elsewhere in Europe.

Company comment

Yiannis Tsirikos, chief executive of Regency Entertainment, said the project reflected a significant investment bringing the three gaming technology firms together in one European venue for the first time. He added that the ambition extended beyond expanding facilities, aiming instead to build a year-round entertainment destination that would draw visitors from across the region and position Greece as a leading player in European leisure and gaming.

Wider portfolio

The Piazza Project adds to Regency Casino Thessaloniki’s existing offering as part of the wider Regency Entertainment Group, which has operated in Greece’s hospitality and entertainment sector for more than three decades. The group’s portfolio also includes the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki hotel and the Regency Casino Mont Parnes complex in Athens.

Regency Entertainment is also developing a €300 million hospitality and entertainment destination in the northern suburbs of Athens, which is scheduled to open in early 2028.
