Star Sports becomes new sponsor of George Boughey's Newmarket yard
Bookmaker Star Sports has agreed a sponsorship deal with Classic-winning Flat trainer George Boughey, adding him to a stable of racing ambassadors that includes jockeys Harry Skelton and Davy Russell.
Star Sports has announced a new sponsorship agreement with George Boughey, the Newmarket-based Flat trainer, covering his yard and operations.
The 32-year-old trainer, who recently secured the third Group 1 victory of his career when Believing won the Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai, trains horses for a number of prominent owners in British and Irish racing, including Coolmore, Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Amo Racing and Highclere Thoroughbreds.
Boughey has this season moved his operation to Craven House Stables, a former Godolphin yard in Newmarket, as part of a broader expansion of his training business.
Content and branding
Under the partnership, Boughey joins existing Star Sports ambassadors Harry Skelton, the jockey, and former rider Davy Russell, as part of the bookmaker’s growing roster of racing figures. He is expected to provide regular content and updates on his horses throughout the season, including a weekly blog on the Star Sports website.
The sponsorship also extends to branding across saddle cloths, stable staff clothing and the yard itself.
Boughey said he was looking forward to the season ahead, highlighting the strength of his current string and the move to Craven House Stables as a significant new phase for the yard, adding that having already recorded a Group 1 win with Believing was a positive start.
Flynn Goward, managing director at Star Sports, said Boughey’s rapid rise and recent expansion reflected his ambition, and that the firm was pleased to support the yard and provide its customers with regular updates from his stable.
