Thunderkick strikes MaxBet deal to expand Romanian footprint
Independent slots studio Thunderkick has agreed a content partnership with Romanian operator MaxBet, adding to its growing presence across European markets.
Stockholm-based games studio Thunderkick has entered into an agreement with MaxBet, a leading operator in Romania with both digital and land-based operations, as it looks to grow its audience in the Balkans.
The deal, announced by Thunderkick on 26 June 2025, has seen a direct integration go live carrying a selection of the studio’s most popular titles, including entries from the Midas Golden Touch, The Wildos and Esqueleto Explosivo series. Further games are expected to be added to the MaxBet platform as the partnership develops.
Wider European push
The MaxBet tie-up forms part of a broader effort by Thunderkick to strengthen its position across Europe. The company has also recently struck partnerships with CasinoMania and Netwin in Italy, and with 711.nl and JACKS.NL in the Netherlands. It has additionally secured an updated supplier licence in Denmark, aimed at reinforcing its presence in the Scandinavian market.
Fredrik Ekholm, Head of Sales at Thunderkick, described Romania as a key jurisdiction for the studio and said the MaxBet agreement would help it build on its existing market position, adding that he expected the company’s game portfolio to appeal to MaxBet’s player base.
Manuel Bauer, CEO of MaxBet, said the operator was pleased to add Thunderkick to its portfolio, noting that the studio’s titles would bring greater variety to the platform as it continues to develop its offering for players in Romania.
Thunderkick was founded in Stockholm in 2012 and now employs more than 80 people in-house. Its games, including Midas Golden Touch, Pink Elephants and the Esqueleto Explosivo trilogy, are distributed via its own Remote Gaming Server to operators including Bet365, William Hill, LeoVegas, 888 Casino, Mr Green, PokerStars Casino, ComeOn, Unibet and Betsson.
