Yggdrasil and Hungrybear launch shark-themed slot Shark Bait

Yggdrasil and Hungrybear Gaming have released Shark Bait, a new online slot set in a deep-sea world of cascading wins and prehistoric predators.

The title uses a 7x7 grid with a cluster pay mechanic, where winning combinations can trigger one of five different features.

Features and mechanics

In the base game, a modifier called Net Clear removes low-paying symbols from the grid and replaces them with higher-value alternatives, building on the cascading gameplay.

Other features include Warning Bites, which can add up to six wild symbols to the reels, and Blood Trails, in which sharks move across the grid from left to right, leaving trails of wild symbols behind them.

The game’s central feature is Megalodon CHOMP. Winning lines generate connections, and once 25 are made in a single game cycle players progress along an on-screen meter. Reaching 100 triggers the appearance of a megalodon, which bites into the grid and leaves wilds behind to create further winning combinations.

Shark Bait runs on Yggdrasil’s GATI technology, a standardised development toolkit designed to allow partners to build regulation-ready content for rapid distribution.

Zoe Bird, Senior Product & Program Manager at Yggdrasil, said Hungrybear had reinvigorated the genre with the release, describing the features as adding to the dynamic action created by the cascading symbols.

Joe Chamberlain, Product Lead at Hungrybear, said the game was designed to be both exciting and rewarding, pointing to the anticipation built around triggering the Megalodon CHOMP feature alongside the random appearance of wilds.
