Yggdrasil signs Bitpunch to YGG Masters partner programme

Yggdrasil announced on 6 December 2024 that it has added Bitpunch, a Barcelona-based games studio, to its YGG Masters partner programme.

Bitpunch operates under the Spinart group, which also owns Peter & Sons. As part of the agreement, the studio will develop titles aimed at both seasoned slot players and more casual audiences across regulated markets, focusing on visual design and mechanics intended to differentiate its output from other content in the sector.

Debut title set for January

The studio’s first release under the YGG Masters banner will be Killroad 66, scheduled for launch in January 2025. The game is themed around biker gangs racing across a desert setting.

The deal extends Yggdrasil’s YGG Masters initiative, which allows independent studios to build and distribute games through the company’s technology and distribution network. According to Yggdrasil, the programme has produced several of its top-performing titles in recent years. Partners in the scheme also gain access to Yggdrasil’s Game Engagement Mechanics (GEMs), a set of tools used to add features to game content; the portfolio currently comprises ten such mechanics.

Executive comment

Jose Simon, Commercial Director at Yggdrasil, said the company was pleased to welcome Bitpunch into the YGG Masters roster and expressed confidence in the studio’s ability to deliver strong content, starting with Killroad 66. He added that Yggdrasil intends to expand its YGG Masters portfolio across gaming verticals over the coming year, describing the Bitpunch signing as an early step in that process.

Mitri Wiberg, co-CEO at Bitpunch, said the studio aims to replicate the success of other YGG Masters partners such as Peter & Sons, calling the partnership the start of what it expects to be a significant venture.

Yggdrasil, founded in 2013, is headquartered in Sweden with additional offices in Malta, Poland and Gibraltar. The release was issued by Yggdrasil via PR agency Square in the Air.
