Altenar secures National Manufacturer licence in South Africa

Altenar has been granted a National Manufacturer licence by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB), allowing the sportsbook and iGaming software provider to operate in South Africa.

The company said the licence followed a rigorous certification process, which included detailed KYC and compliance checks along with extensive documentation to verify its suitability as a supplier in the jurisdiction.

The approval marks Altenar’s formal entry into the South African market and, according to the company, could support further expansion across the African continent.

Company comment

Sam Hill, Sales Director at Altenar, said the licence represented a significant step in the company’s global growth strategy, describing South Africa as a key target market. He said Altenar’s sportsbook solution covers core sports such as football and racing, with a flexible user interface allowing operators to prioritise local content.

Hill added that the company’s cross-sell capabilities across products would benefit operators in South Africa given the popularity of multiple gambling verticals in the market, and said Altenar was looking forward to further developing its presence in the wider African region.

The announcement was issued by Square in the Air on behalf of Altenar, a sportsbook and iGaming software provider founded in 2011.
