Altenar signs three-year title sponsorship of Gran Fondo Isle of Man

Altenar has become the title sponsor of Gran Fondo Isle of Man under a new three-year agreement, extending the company’s community sports investment on the island.

The announcement was made on 19th June 2025. The Gran Fondo Isle of Man, which marks its 10th anniversary this year, takes place over 19 and 20 July across the Manx countryside. More than 1,000 riders are expected to take part across four routes: the 85-mile Gran Fondo, the 39-mile Medio Fondo, the 20-mile Piccolo Fondo, and the family-oriented Minisculo Fondo, based at Ramsey’s Mooragh Park.

A decade of racing

Since launching, the event has drawn more than 8,000 riders from countries including Japan, Australia, South Africa and the USA. It has been named among Cycling Weekly’s “Top Ten Must-Do” events for three consecutive years and served as a qualifying round of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series between 2021 and 2024. The Isle of Man is also the birthplace of cyclist Mark Cavendish, who has competed in the Gran Fondo in 2019 and 2022.

Organisers confirmed that 2025 will be the final edition in its current format, with future plans to be announced alongside Altenar in due course.

Ongoing Isle of Man commitment

The sponsorship builds on Altenar’s existing backing of the Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon, scheduled for August. The company is headquartered at Cycle 360 House on the island.

John Quaye, Chief Financial Officer at Altenar, said the sponsorship reflected the island’s cycling heritage and the company’s existing links to endurance sport, adding that it highlighted the Isle of Man’s environment and its Unesco World Biosphere status.

Paul Phillips, Director of Gran Fondo Isle of Man, said Altenar’s involvement as title sponsor represented confidence in the event’s long-term direction, noting the organisers’ aim to keep developing mass-participation cycling for a range of ages and abilities.

Altenar, founded in 2011, provides turnkey sportsbook solutions and has positioned itself as a partner-focused supplier within the iGaming sector.
